Well, it was the day shift and my nurse from hell, Marianne, was back on. She seemed more standoffish that day. It was the day to go home with Aubrey. We took our time. I slept some more and then we had to watch a video and fill out paperwork. Overwhelming, all the paperwork and care instructions. We left the hospital around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. So much stuff to pile in the car from a short visit.
The days actually seemed to go by quickly in the hospital. We got home and Austin's parents and Andrea came by while we napped for a few hours. Austin was really good about getting up with Aubrey in the night while I still slept and recovered.

My Grandpa and Karen came by for a visit to see the first Great-Grandbaby on my Grandpa's side. Drawing a blank as to what else happened that day, but I do know that during these range of days I was crying quite a bit. The hormones just really take charge. I felt inadequate and not helpful with Aubrey since I was sleeping a lot and trying to take care of myself. It was really hard for me to watch everyone else take care of her and I was just feeling like a bystander. It didn't help the pain I was having with the uterus still contracting back down after breastfeeding. This was the day I barely started to get an appetite again, it's been hard for me to eat.

Holy instant boob job overnight!!! And let there be milk! It really looked like I got a boob job, but I know it didn't help that I wore a sports bra instead of my nursing bra since it was being washed. My chest felt sooo sore and I needed some relief! Also that night I was hot and cold and woke up twice drenched in sweat. I later read that this is normal and was the body's way of getting rid of pregnancy-accumulated fluids.
We took Aubrey to her first visit to the Pediatrician. We changed her diaper in the car before we in and Austin took went to put the new diaper under her and she started peeing! Peed all over her outfit! Thank goodness I packed an extra outfit. Then as soon as we sat down in the waiting area she got hungry so we fed her. We were in the room for only a few minutes when Aubrey really made a mess in her fresh diaper and it was time for round 2 change! The Dr. said she gained her birthweight back and was at 6 lbs 13 oz. Everything looked great and the next appt is when she's 2 weeks old and we do her next PKU test.
Holly watched Aubrey while Austin and I ran out to get some baby stuff. It was nice for the two of us to get out for a few hours. It was crazy not really knowing what day it was and to be in the outside world again. We went to Babies-R-Us and got more burp clothes (I can't believe how fast we go through those), a pack-n-play and a swing. The swing is amazing and definitely worth the money spent!

My family came by for a visit and Janelle was taking pictures of everyone with Aubrey.
I'm sure that some people may hate me for posting these pictures, but 5 days after I was down 13 pounds and I had ribs that I could see again! It's weird now looking down and not having a baby in my belly. I think I only got one little stretch mark on my right side. I do think the best way for me to get back into shape is going to be from Aubrey making us laugh! When she farts, some last a few seconds, and it just cracks us up! My abs are in there somewhere!
39 1/2 weeks ................... 5 days after
The hardest part of my pregnancy has had to be the first week following delivery. The recovery process has been painful and draining. I hate having to take so long just to go to the bathroom, it's such a process and I would dread going out somewhere not wanting to have to use the bathroom while being out.
